My name is Cristin Reeder. I teach immigrant parents in a two generation setting. I am an Adult and Family Literacy ESL instructor at Briya Public Charter School in Washington, DC. As teachers, we are often well-equipped with our knowledge of our content area and strategies, but lack an understanding of the nuts and bolts of the English language. I hope this site helps you deepen your understanding of English linguistics. My sources for this site primarily come from the texts, Language in the Schools: Integrating Linguistic Knowledge Into K-12 Teaching, edited by Kristen Denham and Ann Lobeck, and How English Works, A Linguistic Introduction by Ann Curzan and Micheal Adams. This site was and assignment for the Spring Semester 2016 EDIS 5423: English Linguistics class at the University of Virginia.
